What Is Hospice?

The hospice team is specially trained to provide patients and families with support and services through and beyond the end of life. With the emphasis on comfort, families are able to spend time simply being together.
Hospice is not a place, it is care that can be provided where and when it is needed. Care is available in private homes, nursing facilities or assisted living residences. Our hospice team is available around the clock to help manage changes in conditions or needs.
When you are asked to consider hospice, please call us. Our first step is to listen to you and learn about your care goals. Whether your goal is to have less pain or to attend an upcoming family function, we will work with you to develop a plan of care to meet your needs. You will have access to a hospice care support team which may include:
- Physicians
- Registered nurses
- Non-denominational spiritual counselor
- Social workers
- Hospice aides
- Volunteers
- Physical, occupational and speech therapists
- Bereavement coordinators
